# Introduction

Updated October 24, 2026.

mttr reads your site the way a crawler does, and says what to fix first. One rulebook, four stages, and a list ranked by how much each fix is worth, for you and for the assistant you hand it to.

1. Add the skills:

2. Tell your agent:

```text
Check yoursite.com with mttr and fix what’s worth the most.
```

## What does mttr do?

It reads a site the way a search crawler or an AI assistant does, checks every page against one rulebook, and ranks every fix by the points it is worth. You or your agent make the fixes on the site, and mttr reads it again to check that each one counts.

Every page is asked four questions, from whether a crawler can reach it to whether a visitor can act on it. [The rulebook](https://mttr.si/rulebook) says what each stage asks and how much of the score it holds.

## Three ways in

| Way in | What you do | Needs a key |
| --- | --- | --- |
| On the web | Type a domain on the home page, watch it being read, and open the report. | No |
| From an assistant | Ask in your own words. Every answer is one tool over MCP, from the brief to what changed. | Yes |
| From your code | Ask for the same answers as JSON under `/api/v1`, for scripts and releases. | Yes |

A key comes with an email. It reads the public report of any site; claim your own site to add its private parts.

## What a report gives you

| Part | What it says |
| --- | --- |
| The score | One number out of 100, and the four stages it is added from |
| The fix list | Every failing rule, the pages that fail it, and what to do, the fix worth the most first |
| The plan | The four fixes worth the most as steps, and the same plan as words to hand an agent |
| Its place | Where the site stands among every site mttr ranks, and among sites in its own line of work |
| What changed | After the next read, the score then and now, and each rule now passing or newly failing |

## What it does not do

- Change your site. You or your agent make each fix with the access you already have; mttr reads the public pages and checks the result.
- Read a page behind a sign-in, or any address that is not on the public internet.
- Say an assistant cites the site. A score says the pages are well formed; whether an assistant quotes them is a separate question.
