## What can your assistant do with mttr?

Read a site and say what to fix first, read it again once the fixes are live, and show what changed. It can also check one page on the spot, set a site against its rivals, follow searches and citations, and keep its work list with your approval. Each of the 62 tools below answers one of those.

Every answer mttr gives an assistant is one tool, 62 in all. Each links to a page on what it does and a sample of what it answers. The arguments in full are in the [API reference](https://mttr.si/docs/reference.md).

## Read and fix

Find what to fix first, read the site again once it’s fixed, and see what changed.

- [Sites read (`mttr_sites`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/sites.md): The sites mttr has read, each with its latest score, its page count and the rule to fix first.
- [One site (`mttr_site`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/site.md): One site as its latest read found it: the score, the four stages, and every fix in order with each page that fails it.
- [Brief (`mttr_brief`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/brief.md): The fix list for a site as Markdown, written to be acted on: what to fix, in what order, how, why, and on which pages.
- [Plan (`mttr_plan`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/plan.md): The fixes worth the most as ordered steps, each with what to do, a few of its pages and the points it is worth, and the words to hand an assistant to work through them.
- [Read it again (`mttr_rescan`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/rescan.md): Asks mttr to read a site again after it has been changed.
- [Where a read stands (`mttr_job`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/job.md): How a read asked for stands: waiting, running, done or failed, and how many reads are ahead of it.
- [What changed (`mttr_changes`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/changes.md): What the latest read of a site changed against the one before it: the score, rules now passing, rules newly failing, and pages added and removed.
- [What happened lately (`mttr_events`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/events.md): The newest things that happened: reads asked for, finished and failed, scores that moved, and rules that were fixed.

## Check any page

Check one page on the spot, no full read needed: how an agent sees it, its share card, product data and certificate, a brand’s locations together, and the structured data it should have.

- [What an agent reads (`mttr_agent_view`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/agent-view.md): Reads one live page the way an agent does and hands back its main content as Markdown, with its words, an estimated token count, and what helped or hurt the reading, each tied to its rule where the rulebook has one.
- [Test an X card (`mttr_x_card`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/x-card.md): Tests one live link’s X card: its twitter: tags against what X’s card docs list, its image, whether robots.txt keeps X’s crawler out, and for a player card whether the player route’s headers let X frame it.
- [Check a product page (`mttr_product_check`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/product-check.md): Checks one live product page’s structured data field by field against the fields search engines list for merchant listings, and guesses whether a shopper can buy on the page.
- [Check a certificate (`mttr_ssl_check`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/ssl-check.md): Checks one public host’s SSL certificate with a single TLS handshake: whether it is valid for the name, who issued it, the days left, the chain as sent and whether it verifies, the TLS version agreed, whether TLS 1.0 and 1.1 are still let in, and whether http:// moves to https:// with HSTS.
- [Grade a brand’s locations (`mttr_locations`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/locations.md): Reads a brand’s location pages together, up to 25 of them found from its home page, its structured data and its sitemap, and grades them on eight checks that only show across them: the brand tied to its locations, a business block on each, no two alike, a share card for each, hreflang both ways, each its own canonical, every one easy to find, and the same details on the page as in its block.
- [Schema creator (`mttr_schema_create`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/schema-create.md): Makes JSON-LD for one page from the values given, with the fields Google marks required or recommended for each type, and fetches nothing.

## Inside a site

Every page from a read: its links, how the site fits together, what it covers, pages that overlap, and signs of generated text.

- [Pages (`mttr_pages`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/pages.md): The pages of a site from its latest read, with status, clicks from home, words and the rules each fails.
- [One page (`mttr_page`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/page.md): One page of a site: what it says about itself, the rules it fails with the fix for each, and the pages that link to it and that it links to.
- [Links (`mttr_links`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/links.md): The links of a site from its latest read: broken ones by default, or all of them, those in page content, or the other sites it links to.
- [How a site is put together (`mttr_structure`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/structure.md): A site’s sections, how many clicks each sits from the home page, how much of each is linked from page content, and the links between sections.
- [Map of a site (`mttr_map`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/map.md): Every page of a site’s latest read, one of three ways: as a tree by address, by links from the home page, or by meaning, with pages that read alike placed close.
- [Topics (`mttr_topics`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/topics.md): What a site covers: its subjects and the pages under each, pages competing for the same search, and places a subject is missing from.
- [Pages that read alike (`mttr_similar`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/similar.md): Pages of a site that mean nearly the same thing, grouped, which may compete for one search.
- [Signs of generated text (`mttr_tells`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/tells.md): Signs of generated text on a site’s pages: hidden characters that can carry a watermark or hidden instructions, chat and markdown left in, placeholders never filled in, stock phrasing, and heavy use of dashes.

## Rivals and markets

How a site stacks up against others: rule by rule, by topic, by location, and what they cover that it doesn’t.

- [Compare two sites (`mttr_compare`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/compare.md): Two sites already read, rule by rule: the scores and stages side by side, and the rules each is ahead or behind on by the share of its pages passing.
- [Competitors (`mttr_competitors`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/competitors.md): Where a site is, from the address or phone numbers on its own pages; the sites near it doing similar work; everyone near it; and sites doing similar work elsewhere.
- [Nearest sites (`mttr_near`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/near.md): The sites closest in meaning to one site, closest first: the ones writing about the same work, which are its likeliest rivals.
- [A site against its market (`mttr_market`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/market.md): A site set against its market, or its nearest sites when it has none: its place by score, the median, and for every rule the share of pages passing here against the market median and the best site.
- [Markets (`mttr_markets`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/markets.md): Groups of sites close in meaning, each named by the site at its centre, largest first.
- [Leaderboard (`mttr_leaderboard`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/leaderboard.md): Every ranked site by the score of its latest read, or the board of one crowd: a line of work, a state, a city or a size.
- [Explore (`mttr_explore`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/explore.md): One thing mttr knows and every way on from it, each marked by what made it: meaning, links, or the rulebook.
- [Content gaps (`mttr_gaps`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/gaps.md): Subjects a site’s rivals write about that nothing on the site comes close to in meaning, the one most rivals cover first.
- [Worked examples (`mttr_examples`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/examples.md): How other sites pass a rule a page fails: pages on sites in the same market, or the nearest sites, that pass it and are closest to the page in meaning, each with the passage that comes closest.
- [Links from other sites (`mttr_backlinks`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/backlinks.md): The sites mttr has read that link to a site, the most pages first, with how many sites were counted.
- [Search by meaning (`mttr_search`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/search.md): Ask a question as a buyer would and get the passages that answer it best, and each site once by its best passage, from the sites closest to the question, one market, or sites you name.

## Search and assistants

What people searched, what they clicked, who visited, and which sites assistants cite.

- [Citations so far (`mttr_citations`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/citations.md): What assistants were found to cite for a site, question by question, from the lookups already made, and the credits left for more.
- [Ask the assistants (`mttr_cite`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/cite.md): Asks assistants one question with web search on, and says whether each cites the site, where, whether it names it without citing it, and who it cites instead.
- [Search traffic (`mttr_traffic`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/traffic.md): Clicks from search, from Search Console.
- [Searches (`mttr_queries`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/queries.md): The searches a site’s pages were shown for, from Search Console, with clicks, impressions and average place: by query, by page, or only those close to the top.
- [Visits (`mttr_visits`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/visits.md): Who fetched a site’s pages in the last 28 days against the 28 before, counted by the site’s own server: people, people an assistant sent, and crawlers by name, AI crawlers marked.

## Work and approvals

Your agent’s to-do list, each change sent to you for approval by email, and a progress page to follow along.

- [Your work board (`mttr_todo`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/todo.md): Your work across every site you have claimed, as your progress page shows it: the next fix to make, then every other fix by worth, what slipped back, and what a read has checked fixed.
- [Your site’s content brain (`mttr_content_brain`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/content-brain.md): What mttr knows about a site you claimed, as files to keep in its repository: what the business does and where, how its pages read, the facts its structured data states, what is worth writing, and every brief so far.
- [The next page to write (`mttr_content_next`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/content-next.md): The brief for the page most worth writing next on a site you claimed: the question, why it is worth a page, the kind of page and its address, the facts to use, the voice, and the rules it will be held to.
- [Say where a page went (`mttr_content_done`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/content-done.md): Tells mttr where the page for one of your briefs went on your site.
- [Drop a brief (`mttr_content_drop`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/content-drop.md): Drops one of your open briefs, so its place among the three open at once is free for the next.
- [Posts about a new page (`mttr_content_posts`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/content-posts.md): For a page that went live from one of your briefs, a brief for an X post and one for LinkedIn: the point, one fact of your own that carries it, the link, your voice and the room left.
- [Tasks queued for you (`mttr_queue`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/queue.md): The tasks you queued for your assistant from your mttr, oldest first, each with its site and the words to work from.
- [Mark a task done (`mttr_queue_done`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/queue-done.md): Says a queued task is done.
- [Log what you did (`mttr_log_work`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/log-work.md): Tells mttr what was done on a site after each step: what was planned, changed or checked, where it got stuck, and the files and rules involved.
- [Approvals on or off (`mttr_approvals_set`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/approvals-set.md): Sets how your assistant works on one of your sites: automatic, where it deploys each change as it goes, or approve, where it proposes each change and waits for you.
- [Propose a change (`mttr_propose`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/propose.md): Before a change goes out on a site set to approve, proposes it to you.
- [Where a proposal stands (`mttr_proposal`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/proposal.md): Says where one proposal stands: pending, approved, declined or expired.
- [Every proposal (`mttr_proposals`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/proposals.md): Your proposals, newest first, each with where it stands, for one site or all of them.
- [A link to your progress page (`mttr_progress_link`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/progress-link.md): A private link to your progress page: your sites, every read, what each changed, and what your assistant has asked.

## Rulebook and crawl

The rules every page is checked against, findings waiting on a person, and how the crawl is going.

- [The rulebook (`mttr_rules`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/rules.md): Every rule mttr checks, with its stage, its weight and how to fix a failure.
- [Needs a person (`mttr_reviews`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/reviews.md): Verdicts a model could not be relied on for, which wait for a person and count neither for nor against a score, newest read first.
- [The crawl (`mttr_crawls`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/crawls.md): The crawl as it stands: the sites being read now, the next in line, and how the reads that ended over the last 1, 7 or 30 days ended.

## Account and sites

Sign up, prove a site is yours, list your sites, and group them into a portfolio.

- [Sign up (`mttr_signup`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/signup.md): Signs you up with your email and answers your key.
- [Claim a site (`mttr_claim`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/claim.md): Starts proving a site is yours.
- [Check a claim (`mttr_claim_check`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/claim-check.md): Looks for the record or file from Claim a site, and once it is found adds the site to your account.
- [Name a site on the leaderboard (`mttr_list`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/list.md): Puts a site you have claimed on the public leaderboard by its name, with a link to its report.
- [Your portfolio (`mttr_portfolio`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/portfolio.md): One score across every site you have claimed: half for what was improved while you held each site, three tenths for where the sites stand now, and a fifth for search traffic, not counted yet.
- [Change your portfolio (`mttr_portfolio_set`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/portfolio-set.md): Publishes or hides your portfolio, sets a display name and a home site that says who is behind it, and names each site on it or keeps it to its code.
- [Keep a site out of portfolios (`mttr_portfolio_veto`)](https://mttr.si/docs/tools/portfolio-veto.md): For the owner of a site: takes it out of every portfolio but their own, at once.
