# Drop a brief (`mttr_content_drop`)

Updated October 24, 2026.

## What does mttr_content_drop do?

Drops one of your open briefs, so its place among the three open at once is free for the next. A key may make this call on the sites it has claimed.

Who may call it: Your claimed sites.

## When to use it

- A brief is for a page you will not write.

## What you ask

You might say: “Drop the French drain brief; we do not do those.”

```
mttr_content_drop({ site: "example.com", brief: 10 })
```

| Argument | Type | Needed | What it is |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `site` | Text | Yes | The site, as a domain such as example.com. |
| `brief` | Number | Yes | The brief's id, from mttr_content_next. |

## What comes back

- The brief dropped, and room for the next.

A sample, with made-up sites and figures:

1. Open
2. Dropped (here)

Brief 13 dropped. Ask for the next.

## Over HTTP

```
curl -X POST "https://mttr.si/api/v1/account/content/drop" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $MTTR_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"site":"example.com","brief":10}'
```

## When it fails

| When | Status | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Your assistant has no key yet | 401 over MCP | Sign up with `mttr_signup`, then connect again with the key it gives. |
