# Links (`mttr_links`)

Updated October 24, 2026.

## What does mttr_links do?

The links of a site from its latest read: broken ones by default, or all of them, those in page content, or the other sites it links to. Any key may make this call, on any public site.

Who may call it: Any key.

## When to use it

- You want to fix broken links.
- You want to see which sites it sends readers to.

## What you ask

You might say: “Find the broken links on example.com.”

```
mttr_links({ site: "example.com" })
```

| Argument | Type | Needed | What it is |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `site` | Text | Yes | The site, as a domain such as example.com. |
| `show` | One of these: broken, all, content, outbound | No | Which links. |
| `q` | Text | No | Text a path, a site or the link text must contain. |
| `limit` | Number | No | How many to return. |
| `offset` | Number | No | How many to skip, for the next part of a long list. |

## What comes back

- Each link with where it is, where it goes and what answered.
- Link text read from the site, marked as quoted.

A sample, with made-up sites and figures:

| From | To | Answered |
| --- | --- | --- |
| /guides/septic-care | /services/pumping-old | 404 |
| /about | https://old.example/team | No answer |

## Over HTTP

```
curl "https://mttr.si/api/v1/sites/example.com/links" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $MTTR_KEY"
```

## When it fails

| When | Status | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Your assistant has no key yet | 401 over MCP | Sign up with `mttr_signup`, then connect again with the key it gives. |
| mttr has no public report of the site yet | 404 | Ask for a read with `mttr_rescan`, then watch it with `mttr_job`. |
