Dean of Student Services Connect training has had an impact on how our staff interact with their students beyond suicide prevention. It reminds everyone (students and professional peers) that we all struggle at times, and we need to support each other. Anika, MSW This will be our third year training our entire staff using Connect in our school district. Each year I witness a deepening understanding and comfort with the principles of suicide prevention. The more knowledge we have, the better we can support those in need. L.F., MSW, QMHP, BSW Compass Connections Our Connect Trainer conducted the training in a very gentle manner--her tone of voice, her consideration and guidance for the comments in the chat—it made a difference! I will love to have other trainings with her!” Shannon Emmanuel College Intern, Memorial Hospital The training helped me to better understand the role I can play in helping my community. I loved the sense of bringing people of all different backgrounds together for the common goal of prevention and ultimately saving lives. ## [Follow on Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/nami_new_hampshire) [💜 NAMI NH is going purple for Domestic Violence Aw](https://www.instagram.com/p/DezeFnIl1C1/) [DEA National Take Back Day 🗓️ Saturday, October 24](https://www.instagram.com/p/DezQTFvl-HB/) [So grateful for the advocacy of Pierce Connolly, r](https://www.instagram.com/p/DexAPrcF0pd/) [💙 Know a Child/Youth Waiting in the ER for Mental](https://www.instagram.com/p/Dewyfb-Fwex/) [Follow on Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/nami_new_hampshire/) ## Connect Trained Organizations University of Hawaii Department of Psychiatry Chippewa Falls County of Public Health, WI Guam Department of Mental Health NH Police Standards & Training Council NH Army National Guard Association of Oregon Community Mental Health Programs Pillpack by Amazon NH Department of Corrections Cardozzo School of Law, NY Souhegan Boys & Girls Club, NH Bhutanese Community Organization of NH Dartmouth Health, NH ## Frequently Asked Questions [Is Connect an evidence-based training?](https://theconnectprogram.org/#collapse-1fa31746adaaf9c9b215) Yes, Connect Suicide Prevention and Connect Suicide Postvention programs are both recognized as evidence-based programs by the Suicide Prevention Resource Center, and are part of the Center’s Best Practice Registry. [What is postvention?](https://theconnectprogram.org/#collapse-778a6cc6adaaf9c9b215) Postvention is an organized, short-term, and long-term response in the aftermath of a suicide to promote healing. The U.S. national guidelines developed by the Survivors of Suicide Loss Task Force indicate that an effective postvention response strives to facilitate the healing of individuals from the grief and distress of suicide loss, mitigate other negative effects of exposure to suicide, and prevent suicide among people who are at high risk after exposure to suicide. The Suicide Prevention Resource Center recommends all settings incorporate postvention as a component of a comprehensive approach to suicide prevention. Key principles for creating a comprehensive postvention effort include: - Planning ahead to address individual and community needs - Providing immediate and long-term support - Tailoring responses and services to the unique needs of [suicide loss survivors](https://sprc.org/populations/survivors-of-suicide-loss/) - Involving survivors of suicide loss in planning and implementing postvention efforts Connect offers postvention training and services to educate key stakeholders in your community about effective postvention response and planning and guide them to develop and implement effective strategies, practices, and protocols that will promote healing. [How much do Connect Training and Consultation Services cost?](https://theconnectprogram.org/#collapse-f8eb73b6adaaf9c9b215) For all suicide prevention and postvention trainings, costs vary depending on multiple factors including training selected, number of participants, method of delivery, location of training delivery, and number of trainers. Costs include NAMI NH staff time and all materials. Travel expenses for in-person services are added to the total cost of training package for each NAMI NH staff required for training delivery. [Can Continuing Education (CE) credits be offered for Connect trainings?](https://theconnectprogram.org/#collapse-8dab3e66adaaf9c9b215) Some Connect trainings are approved for continuing education credits and they can be made available to your audience for a nominal, additional fee. When inquiring about training, ask about CEs. [What makes Connect different from other training programs?](https://theconnectprogram.org/#collapse-a20f9426adaaf9c9b215) **Connect stands out for its comprehensive, community-based approach that goes beyond individual training to strengthen entire systems of care.** Unlike many programs, Connect offers both suicide prevention and postvention training, emphasizing collaboration across sectors like schools, law enforcement, healthcare, and mental health. The program is grounded in the social-ecological model, addressing suicide risk and protective factors at the individual, relationship, community, and societal levels. It integrates national best practices, considers cultural and demographic influences, and includes often-overlooked areas like lethal means safety, safe messaging, and the impact of social media. The training is interactive, practical, and action-oriented, with a strong focus on communication, coordination, and self-care for those doing this critical work.
