Terms of use
How mttr may be used, what its answers do and do not say, and what each side can count on.
These terms
These terms are between you and subinternal, which runs mttr. Using mttr, by reading a site, opening a report or connecting an agent, means you accept them. If you use mttr for a company, you accept them for it and say you may.
What mttr is
mttr reads a site the way search engines and assistants do, scores how well its pages are formed, and says what to fix first. A score says pages are well formed. It does not say an assistant cites the site, and it is not a promise of rank, traffic, citations or sales.
Reading sites
Ask mttr to read sites you own or have a reason to look at. It reads public pages only, obeys robots.txt and reads a few pages at a time. Do not use it to put load on a site, to get round a site’s own wishes, or to read a site in order to copy it.
A free read takes a site’s first 100 pages, and the free checks and reads have hourly limits. Do not get round those limits, by spreading requests across addresses or otherwise.
What you may not do
- Use mttr to break the law or anyone’s rights.
- Try to reach what is not yours: another account, a site’s private pages, or mttr’s own systems.
- Copy mttr’s reports, scores or leaderboard wholesale to build a service of the same kind.
- Read mttr itself with a crawler past what its robots.txt allows.
- Claim a site you do not control, or say mttr endorses you.
Your account and key
Your key is yours to keep private. Whoever holds it can act as you over the API and MCP, and whoever holds a progress link can see that page until it lapses. Either can be ended by giving the account a new key. You are answerable for what is done with your key.
Your agent
When you connect an agent, it acts for you. mttr hands it fixes and checks its work, and never changes your site itself. What your agent changes on your site, and whether it ships, is for you and your agent to decide. Review a change before it goes live, as you would anyone’s.
Claiming a site
Claim only a site you control. A claim rests on the record or file that proves it, and lapses when that proof is taken down.
What you send mttr
What you or your agent send, such as notes on work done, form answers and the sites you name, stays yours. You let mttr keep and use it to run the service for you, as the privacy page says, and to learn how to make mttr better. Do not send anything you have no right to send, or anyone’s secrets.
What mttr makes
mttr’s pages, rulebook, reports, scores and images are subinternal’s. You may share a report, a score card or a badge for a site, link to any page, and quote a report about your own site, as long as mttr is named as the source. A site’s report says what mttr found on a day; it may differ on the next read.
Sites named in public
Sites mttr reads are named on the leaderboard and in their reports. A site’s owner may have theirs named by a code instead, or removed, through the form on the page for teams.
Citation lookups and credits
A citation lookup asks assistants a question and says whether a site is among their sources. Answers vary by day, place and person, so a lookup says what one answer said, not what every answer will. Credits pay for lookups; a lookup’s price is said before it is asked, and it is charged only once an assistant answers. mttr takes no payment today, and Premium and credits are given by hand. Before payment starts, these terms will say what it costs, how refunds work, and which law governs them.
No promises
mttr is given as it is. It does its best to be right and to stay up, but makes no promise that it is either, or that following its fixes will bring any result. As far as the law allows, subinternal is not liable for anything lost through using mttr, such as traffic, sales or data, and never for more than you paid it in the year before.
Ending
You may stop using mttr at any time, and close your account. mttr may end or limit an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk, and will say why unless the law forbids it.
Changes and availability
mttr is early and changes often. It may be down at times, and features may change or end. These terms will be updated here when they do, and the date at the top says when. A change that takes away something you rely on will be told to you before it applies.
