mttr and Google Search Console
Search Console is Google’s own word on a site: the searches it shows for, the clicks, and what is indexed. mttr reads the pages those searches land on, the way search engines and AI assistants do, and says what to fix first. Both are free.
Keep Google Search Console. Add mttr on top.
mttr is not a replacement for Google Search Console. It is a free layer that reads your pages the way search engines and AI assistants do.
What Google Search Console is best at
- Your real searchesThe queries a site shows for in Google, with clicks, impressions and average position, from Google itself.
- IndexingWhich pages are indexed, which are not and why, and URL Inspection for any one page.
- Problems Google foundCore Web Vitals, security issues, manual actions and reports on structured data.
- Sitemaps and removalsTell Google where the pages are, and take one out of results quickly.
What mttr adds on top
- Pages read as an AI crawler gets themThe words in the HTML before any script, whether robots.txt and the firewall let GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot in, and one address for each page.
- Fixes ranked by what they are worthEach failing rule weighed by its stage and by how many pages miss it, so the first fix is the one that moves the most.
- A reader for what code cannot countA reasoning model reads for things such as whether a page answers before it explains. It only advises; code decides.
- A loop your agent runsThe plan in your agent’s words for Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, and 62 MCP tools: it makes each change, asks for a fresh read, and mttr says which rules now pass.

Questions
Is mttr a Search Console alternative?
No. Only Google can say which searches a site shows for and what it has indexed. mttr is a free layer on top that reads the pages those searches land on and ranks what to fix.
Can I use mttr with Search Console?
Yes. Find the pages with many impressions and few clicks in Search Console, fix them from mttr’s plan, then request indexing and watch the clicks.
Does Search Console show traffic from AI answers?
Not apart: visits from Google’s AI features are counted in its totals. mttr does not measure citations either. Its score says the pages are well formed, not that an assistant cites the site.
Is mttr free?
Yes. Reading any public site is free, with no sign-up: the first 100 pages, a score, its place and the fixes worth the most. An email gets a key, and the key connects your agent.
mttr with other tools
mttr sits on top of each, on the same terms.
